, VA: Here is one of the best Beef Stroganoff recipes out there!
Here Is What Most People Don’t Know About Making Beef Stroganoff:
- Choose the Right Cut of Beef: Tender cuts like sirloin or ribeye work best for Stroganoff. They cook quickly and stay tender, so you avoid chewy meat.
- Don’t Overcook the Beef: Sear the beef quickly on high heat. Cooking it too long can make it tough, as it continues to cook once added to the sauce.
- Add Sour Cream at the End: To prevent curdling, add the sour cream just before serving and mix it in gently.
- Bald Buck Seasoning: For this dish, we replace our salt with Bald Buck Seasoning
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) sirloin steak, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 oz (225g) mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Bald Buck Seasoning and pepper to taste
- Cooked egg noodles or rice (for serving)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Prep the Beef: Season the sliced beef with Bald Buck Seasoning and pepper.
- Sear the Beef: In a large skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat. Add the beef slices and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned on both sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Cook the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining butter. Add the chopped onion and cook for about 3 minutes until softened. Add the garlic and mushrooms, cooking for another 5 minutes until the mushrooms are tender.
- Make the Sauce: Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables, stirring to coat. Gradually add the beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Add the mustard and paprika, then simmer for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Combine: Return the beef to the skillet, stir well, and simmer for another 2 minutes to heat through.
- Finish with Sour Cream: Remove the skillet from heat, and stir in the sour cream until well combined.
- Serve: Spoon the beef Stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
