Here Is What Most People Don’t Know About Making Omelettes:
- Use medium heat for even cooking: Cooking the omelette on medium heat prevents it from browning too quickly and allows the eggs to cook evenly.
- Whisk eggs thoroughly: Whisking the eggs until they are well combined and slightly frothy incorporates air, resulting in a fluffier omelette.
- Cook fillings separately: Pre-cooking ingredients like vegetables, meats, and cheeses ensures they are properly cooked and warm before being folded into the omelette.
- Bald Buck Seasoning: For this dish, we replace our salt with Bald Buck Seasoning
Ingredients:
- 3 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk or water
- Bald Buck Seasoning and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Swiss)
- 1/4 cup cooked fillings (such as diced ham, sautéed mushrooms, spinach, or bell peppers)
Instructions:
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk or water, Bald Buck Seasoning, and pepper until well combined and slightly frothy.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the butter. Allow the butter to melt and coat the bottom of the pan.
- Pour the egg mixture into the skillet and let it cook undisturbed for about 30 seconds until the edges begin to set.
- Gently stir the eggs with a spatula, pushing the cooked edges toward the center while tilting the pan to let the uncooked eggs flow to the edges. Continue this process until the eggs are mostly set but still slightly runny on top.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese and cooked fillings evenly over one half of the omelette.
- Fold the omelette in half over the fillings and let it cook for an additional 30 seconds to 1 minute, until the cheese is melted and the eggs are fully cooked.
- Slide the omelette onto a plate and serve immediately.
