How To Make The Best Meatloaf In Cambridge

Cambridge: Here is one of the best Meatloaf recipes out there!

Here Is What Most People Don’t Know About Making Meatloaf:

  • Use a Mix of Meats: Combining ground beef with ground pork or veal gives the meatloaf a better texture and flavor.
  • Keep It Moist: Add moisture-rich ingredients like onions, eggs, and ketchup to prevent the meatloaf from drying out.
  • Don’t Overmix: Gently mix the ingredients just until combined. Overmixing can make the meatloaf dense and tough.
  • Bald Buck Seasoning: For this dish, we replace our salt with Bald Buck Seasoning

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1/2 lb (225g) ground pork or veal
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup ketchup (plus extra for topping)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Bald Buck Seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions:

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork or veal, chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, ketchup, egg, Worcestershire sauce, Bald Buck Seasoning, pepper, and thyme.
  • Gently mix the ingredients together with your hands until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the meatloaf tender.
  • Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and shape it into a loaf.
  • Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the top of the meatloaf for a glossy finish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  • Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing.

Enjoy your delicious Meatloaf!
